What is the Se Habla...La Paz
"Total Immersion"
Language Program?

Celebrating 9 years of excellence as La Paz’s Premier Language School, 1999-2008

Our Spanish language school is located in the seaside town of
La Paz

Se Habla...La Paz.

In our total immersion Spanish language program, the student is surrounded daily by the Spanish language and culture daily in a variety of settings:

Students with their instructor in La Paz
Students in Guadalajara
  • At school with a small group, as a couple or in individual classes, in comfortable surroundings
  • During the daily break between classes, enjoying typical foods of Mexico
  • Among classmates and new friends enjoying fiestas and activities after class, weekends and on special occasions
  • For the healthcare and legal programs in settings with professional Mexican colleague
  • At home with a family who supports the learning process and reinforces the newly-learned language and customs.
  • Participating in recreational and/or volunteer activities in the community
  • With exceptional educational materials to take back with you to continue your studies
  • Among a community that welcomes foreign visitors who respect the language and culture of Mexico
  • With instructors and staff who guide and support learning in all settings
  • With individualized materials for professional needs for example - medicine, the law, boating/maritime, desert and marine ecology

The Director of Education assesses each student’s language level before the initiation of the program to determine the most appropriate level in which to begin compiles the educational materials accordingly and then reviews daily each student's program. in pairs or a small group class, the progress is as rapid as the student requires. In doing so, each student is individualized according to their needs to effectively maximize the time that they are studying in Se Habla...La Paz. We believe that this is the most effective way to learn functional Spanish communication skills. Additionally, a curriculum may be designed for specific needs for example: marine biology research, literature study, law, law enforcement, etc. As a small, private school, we make every effort to meet the needs of our adult and young adult learners.

Over the past 9 years, Se Habla...La Paz has gained a reputation locally and internationally for the caliber of the instructors and educational materials.  (see Student feedback)  Our mission is to assist every student to achieve his or her goals in learning and advancing their Spanish proficiency in a manner that is comfortable, efficient and ultimately satisfying for each and every student.  To that end, we do everything possible to tailor the classroom experience and those experiences outside of the classroom to meet the needs and desires of the students.

Students are typically here at the school 4-5 hours per day.  With the Thursday afternoon cultural presentations, students have the opportunity to learn about Mexican holidays and traditions, in Spanish, with handouts, visuals and auditory educational tools.  The instructors speak and teach at the level of the particular class - for this reason, the students can understand clearly the words and how they are put together in Spanish and get their ears tuned to then have the confidence to go out and speak & listen.  As the student progresses, the instructors move their Spanish up to lead the student's into a higher proficiency.  Our instruction methodology is used by all of our teachers so that the student experiences uniformity of teaching in every class.

For true immersion, we prefer that the student participate in the community after class where the language is natural and the customs follow the natural rhythms of society.  To that end, we encourage the student to go out into the community to view and participate in activities like theater, music, demonstrations, dancing, painting, cooking, etc.  We have the most up-to-date cultural activity calendars available at the school and are part of the calendar of events, such as the www.GringoGazette.com or rozinlapaz.blogspot.com.

We are proud to be patrons of the Ciudad de los Niños y Niñas (the local Orphanage) and of the state's School of Music, www.escuelademusicabcs.com thereby offering our students an opportunity to volunteer or assist as possible in these wonderful community organizations.
