WHY TAKE THIS COURSE

Understand where GAT (Game Authentication) began, and how it's used

Authentication of software running on gaming machines, systems, and peripheral devices is a critical part of game integrity and player protection. Rogue software can undermine the confidence of players, reducing the credibility of operators and jurisdictions. The GAT (Game Authentication) protocol was developed over 20 years ago to provide a simple mechanism that regulators and operators can use verify that only approved software is running in gaming machines. Since then, the protocol has been expanded to include gaming systems as well as peripheral devices. This course introduces students to the fundamentals of GAT. Students will learn how the original serial GAT protocol works and how the same game authentication service can be accessed through other network-based protocols – such as G2S and S2S. Students will also be introduced to the Network GAT Interface (NGI), the newest mechanism for accessing game authentication services.
