Casino sector in Peru await authorisation to resume activities

Casino sector in Peru is in stage 4 of the Peruvian economic reactivation plan and casinos are expected to reopen next month 

Casino Sector has been facing a difficult moment since the establishments had to close down as measurements during the pandemic. Carlos Canales, president of the National Tourism Chamber (CANATUR), commented that August is the most expected month for the casino sector in Peru. He mentioned that together with bars, discos and markets, which are in the stage 4 of the Peruvian economic reactivation, casinos will also have to comply with the robust security protocols in order to reopen. 

According to Yogonet Gaming News, Bars should open in August. Also, discos, casinos, slot machines, markets, conferences are all included to the stage 4. He highlighted that along the next days technical meetings will be arranged to organize all the security protocols. 

The Peruvian Minister of Production, José Salardi, reported that as part of the Peruvian economic reactivation plan, stage 4 will start from the first of August. However, he indicated that the reopening of establishments will depend on COVID-19 results in the country We must bear in mind that there are reports and prior evaluation to be considered in order to take step forward and return the activitieshe said to the local news Canal N. 

On the 17th of July the authorities will analyse monitoring reports of Covid-19 in the country to be able to proceed with the reopening plan from the beginning of August. 

According to the Minister, Covid-19 pandemic has hit Peru stronglyplacing the country as the fifth nation with the highest number of coronavirus infections in the world. Damages caused by the pandemic include the paralysis of economic activities and casino sector, resulting in many people loosing their jobs and struggling to support their families.
